Trauma informed yoga allows us to move from overwhelm and disconnection (often due to stress and trauma) to resiliency (or our ability to handle what life brings us), and to allow for all of the parts of ourselves to become integrated and whole, which is the essence of yoga.
When we practice trauma informed yoga we receive the same benefits of the general practice of yoga ( stretching, strengthening, increasing lung capacity, sense of connection and positivity etc, ), but our emphasis is also on building resilience through nurturing the nervous system. We create the groundwork and foundation for growth from a place of sovereignty, mindfulness compassion and choice in a supportive environment.
